Triethanolamine (TEA) 85%
Triethanolamine 85% is an bifunctional organic compound that is both a tertiary amine and a triol. This specific grade is a mixture containing approximately 85% Triethanolamine, with the remaining portion primarily consisting of Diethanolamine (DEA) and Monoethanolamine (MEA). It is a versatile chemical intermediate used extensively as a pH adjuster, surfactant precursor, and grinding aid. Its ability to neutralize fatty acids to form water-soluble soaps makes it an essential ingredient in many emulsification processes.
Applications
- Cement grinding aid to enhance flow and reduce energy consumption.
- Intermediate in the production of surfactants and emulsifiers.
- pH neutralizer and stabilizer in personal care products (lotions, gels).
- Corrosion inhibitor in metalworking fluids and cooling systems.
- Softener and humidifying agent in the textile and leather industries.
- Gas scrubbing agent for the removal of H2S and CO2 from gas streams.

Storage
Keep container tightly closed in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated place. Standard storage temperature should be between 20°C and 40°C. Protect from direct sunlight and moisture. Due to its tendency to freeze (Solidification point approx. 15-20°C), heated storage or sampling may be required in cold climates.
Handling
Observe good industrial hygiene. Use in well-ventilated areas. Wear chemical-resistant gloves (Nitrile or Butyl), safety goggles, and protective clothing. Avoid breathing vapors or mists. Wash thoroughly after handling. Ensure eyewash stations and safety showers are available near usage areas.
Transport
Not regulated as a dangerous good for transport (DOT, IMDG, IATA). Non-hazardous for sea, air, or road freight. HS Code: 2922.13.00.
